Pricing transparency becomes even more important when evaluating staffing options for specialized, contract-based, or professional roles. At Dahl Consulting (DAHL), we aim to make the cost of staffing clear, not just in concept but in practice.
Below are mock pricing scenarios for our most common services. These examples are designed to help you understand how DAHL’s billing structures work and what you’re actually paying for.
Staffing Options
Pricing can vary depending on the staffing model you select. If you’re interested in learning about how pricing varies or more information to help you decide which option best suits your needs, check out our “What are your staffing options?” article.
Contract Staffing
Pricing model: Hourly bill rate = Pay rate + Markup
Contract staffing assignments are billed hourly, with the markup covering payroll taxes, benefits, workers’ compensation, recruiting costs, etc. Learn more about markup and how costs compare between internal hiring and staffing firms here.
Example:
- Consultant pay rate: $40/hour
- Markup: 50%
- Bill rate = $40 + ($40 × 0.50) = $60/hour
Contract-to-Hire Staffing
Pricing model: Hourly billing during trial period + reduced conversion fee if hired
This flexible model lets you evaluate long-term fit before bringing someone on full-time. Many conversion fees are prorated based on hours worked.
Example:
- Trial period: 1,000 hours
- Hired after 1,000 hours
- Conversion fee = 5% of annual salary
Permanent Staffing
Pricing model: One-time placement fee = % of candidate’s first-year salary
This structure is ideal for building your internal team. DAHL handles sourcing, screening, and placement, with fees based on salary level and role type. Learn more about what goes into our fees here.
Example:
- Salary: $80,000
- Fee percentage: 25%
- Placement fee = $80,000 × 0.25 = $20,000
Payrolling/EOR
Successful workforce management involves more than filling roles. It also requires understanding the true cost of hiring, onboarding, and managing people. Here’s what it really costs to hire an employee.
If you’ve sourced a contractor but want DAHL to serve as the employer of record, payrolling removes the administrative burden from your team.
Pricing model: Hourly bill rate = Pay rate + Flat admin fee
Example:
- Pay rate: $50/hour
- Admin fee: $10/hour
- Bill rate = $60/hour
Includes payroll processing, tax filings, benefits administration, and compliance management.
