DAHL & OECS Host the Impact of Legalized Marijuana in the Workplace Webinar

As of August 1, 2023 marijuana is a lawful consumable product under Minnesota law. The legalization of recreational marijuana has had a major impact on the workplace and employers who require drug testing for applicants and employees.

To help answer common questions employers and HR professionals are facing under this new Minnesota law, Dahl Consulting and Doherty Staffing Solutions proudly partnered with OSHA/Environmental Compliance Systems (OECS) in hosting The Impact of Legalized Marijuana in the Workplace webinar on Wednesday, August 23. This free webinar answered new and arising questions regarding Minnesota’s recreational marijuana law.

Employers who conduct drug and alcohol testing in Minnesota need to be aware of changes in the law. For example, unless an applicant/employee fits into certain criteria (i.e., DOT-covered driver, safety-sensitive, etc.), employers are prohibited from conducting pre-employment cannabis testing. Subject to a variety of caveats under the law, employers who take any adverse action against an applicant or employee for using marijuana, may face wrongful discharge claims. This webinar discusses these and many other provisions of the new law so employers can be legally compliant.
